Kyambura Gorge Lodge

Sitting atop the escarpment to the North East of Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kyambura Gorge Lodge offers a great base from which to explore the National Park or for hiking in the Gorge. It's position gives sweeping views over the vast park below and the gorge to the North - on a clear day the Rwenzori Mountains rise up far in the distance completing the picture of this beautiful corner of Uganda.

Kyambura Gorge Lodge - The Details

It's unique location makes this lodge a real gem. It is set on the edge of Queen Elizabeth National Park and it is a very easy drive down to the park and all the game that is on offer. It is also perfect for exploring the wild Kyambura Gorge, covered in dense forest and home to many animals. The biggest draw of the gorge is the habituated chimp family which calls it home - just be aware that it is not the easiest place to see chimps and success varies a lot on weather and the time of year. Only about 50% of treks here result in spending time with the chimpanzees.

The lodge itself is contemporary and luxurious. There are only 8 guest bandas, keeping service personal and having a minimal effect on the surrounds. The main area is large and spacious, a great place to relax after a game drive or trek. There is also a swimming pool and a massage are for those who want to indulge. The dining room offers spectacular views out over the savannah and food here is very good.
