Mountain Gorilla View - The Details
Mountain Gorilla View Lodge is situated in Kinigi in northern Rwanda, on the edge of the Volcanoes National Park, one of the last places on Earth where we can still find the seriously endangered Mountain Gorillas.
The exact location is in the foothills of Mount Karisimbi, one of many volcanic mountains that form the Virunga Massif. It is a just a short drive to the main entrance of the Volcanoes National Park, and tto headquarters where all gorilla trekking begins.
The 30 spacious chalets were built with ecology in mind and to minimise the impact that this lodge has on its surrounding environment. To this end, the lodge was constructed with locally available material and locally sourced furnishings. Similarly all food is locally sourced and served in hearty meals in the restaurant!
Whilst not luxurious, every chalet comes with a sitting area with a fireplace and has a tea/coffee making machine. It is perfectly comfortable and a great base from which to explore the National Parc de Volcans.
