Mauritius Beaches
The island of Mauritius relishes its Indian Ocean location, with a number of seriously fine beaches, many of which are protected by the offshore reef that surrounds the island and mainly protects the white coral sands within. The glorious green of the island interior rises up in great volcanic rifts towards the centre, and sets against the clear turquoise-azure seas and bright, fine sands.
Fine hotels, unspoilt beaches, watersports included; this is the island that does beaches with style, with numerous pools and a fine finish. The joy of Mauritius is that it has excellent kids' clubs on beaches protected by natural reefs, thriving dolphin pods swimming its sparkling seas, and generally an extremely smart attitude to sweeping the beaches and maintaining a clean appeal.
Mauritius' west coast has some great beaches and accommodation; always a winner combination. This is the place to stay if you would like to find resident dolphin pods, and there are plenty of water sports and activities available.
The East Coast beaches are fabulous. Backed by pine trees and then mile upon mile of sugar cane to the mountains, this is a truly beautiful aspect, although can get pretty windy during July and August.
The Mauritian people believe in good manners and hospitality, and they do both with aplomb. Such is the basis for the superb range of high-starred and well appointed hotels here; excelling in providing a great range of restaurants and activities, in large, luxurious and many-roomed establishments.
Best Beach Locations in MauritiusThe newly opened Oberoi is an amazing hotel. The seperate suite rooms are staggering, especially those with private pools. Huge grounds, and the rooms and areas have a wonderfully oriental feel. The beach is lovely despite being too small.
Belle Mare Plage is a big hotel, with just over 200 rooms, but with a huge footprint along a seriously stunning expanse of beach, you are guarenteed private moments and enjoy extremely good service.
A superb hotel, recently rennovated. Rooms are slightly tired and there is only one pool, though food and service are superb. Touessrok also has access to its own private island which is incredible. |
