Beagle Expeditions - The Facts

Kweene Trails offers a moving safari experience, where your camp - complete with a spacious tent, comfortable beds, and a relaxed bathroom set up - is dismantled and erected each day, as you travel from south to north of this wild corner of the Delta.

Groups can travel either via game drives, mekoros on the Kweene River, or on foot in one of the best walking safari experiences on the continent. This is a truly remote part of the camp, lying on a stretch of the river system adjacent to the sandveld tongue in the Western Okavango, only accessible for guests via helicopter.

The best way to experience this camp is by foot, as its remoteness - with its rugged landscape, and no road access - lends itself well to stripping back and experiencing safari like it used to be: with two feet, a brilliant guide, and a sense of adventure in seeing where the day takes you.

Walks can cover a few hundred metres over a few hours or go on for miles, depending entirely on the group’s wishes, and you can swap walking with mekoro - water dependent - or drive if you wish. There will also always be snacks and water on hand to keep you refreshed as you go.

Egyptian cotton bed sheets under a mesh safari canvas shell encapsulates the spirit of this camp: it immerses you in nature, but without compromising on what are essential safari comforts, including a hot bucket shower. The main area consists of a dining table, bar, and the barebones of a living room, while the food is fresh, seasonal and produced locally.

The camp can be taken exclusively by a group for a minimum of four nights, with a maximum number of tents as six, with up to 10 guests.
