Our View

Opened in 2024, Tawana is the newest sleek Okavango Delta offering for those who love all the in-camp luxuries. While this camp is in a hugely wildlife-rich area, the famed Moremi Game Reserve, it does not have the seclusion of a private concession, meaning you will see more vehicles here than in other camps of a similar calibre. Saying that though, if you want unmatched wildlife viewing and all the bells and whistles, Tawana is an excellent new offering.

Tawana - The Facts

Natural Selection is raising the bar on its luxury camps, offering all guests could ever wish for in their Tawana retreat. There are eight thatched suites including three family rooms, all with huge beds, separate lounge areas to the bedrooms, as well as private verandas and pools.

The open-sided main area, set up on stilts with a boma in front of camp, has a huge lounge as well as indoor and outdoor dining spaces, a huge wine cellar and a woodfired pizza oven. Amping up the luxury, Tawana guests can also enjoy a range of spa treatments, a fully equipped gym, and a 16-metre swimming pool, in case their private one wasn’t quite hitting the mark.

Outside of the lodge, there’s even more to entertain with Tawana’s unique location on the Gomoti River surrounded by game-rich floodplains, making the camp a hotspot for wildlife including lion, leopard and wild dogs. You don’t even need to leave to enjoy the wilderness either, as the raised camp has uninterrupted views of the Gomoti River. Predators are often sighted from the main area, making for an exceptional safari stay.

However, with prices starting from $2,095 per person per night, you are paying a premium for all these luxuries, especially as you don’t get a private concession which often goes along with this kind of price tag. It’s not a good choice for those who want to spend days exploring the wilderness alone, but it is somewhere for the safari curious, who are keen to tick off the animals and relax into 5* hotel facilities while they’re at it.
