Nxabega is a good tented camp. It is not glamorous but it fits the &Beyond model of good standards of accommodation with great levels of guiding and high quality food and service. The rooms are smart but not the type to set you alight and the communal areas are similar. Given the price tag, they should be more appealing. In addition, the area is nice but it is not known for its concentrations of large game. It is a very tranquil spot with pockets of interesting animals and a variety of terrain.
Nxabega - The Details
Nxabega is nestled in the Kuruneraga concession, south of Moremi National Park, only a 20 minute flight from Maun. The concession has a great variety of water and dry land making for very picturesque scenery and the topography allows a range of activities. The airstrip is only a 5 minute drive away from the camp.
The magnificent elevated main building is constructed in local timber, reed and thatch with sweeping views over the plains in front. It’s very cosy and doesn’t try to be anything it isn’t.
All tents have an en suite shower and W.C. and are elegantly furnished with wardrobes, luggage racks, chairs, dressing tables and side tables. The rooms are all dotted along a water front that lines a big flood plain and are generously spaced out. The camp, run by a great bunch of &Beyond Staff, comprises a dining room, sitting room and expansive decking areas to lounge around on while sipping a gin and tonic and watching game directly from camp. There is an outside dining area, a swimming pool for afternoon dips when the sun gets too strong, and sun loungers for much-needed siestas.
