Duke’s East Camp in the Okavango Delta is the more intimate version of Duke’s Camp. It offers all the vintage safari extravagance of Duke’s but just on a smaller scale. It also benefits from the same wildlife-rich area that’s exclusive to these two camps to the west of the Mapula/Sekwana Concession, as all the other camps are located in the east. For those who love interesting decor and an old school safari romance - with a fair little dash of luxury - it’s a brilliant option.

Duke's East Camp - The Facts

With just four rooms, guests at Duke’s East can expect a luxurious home away from home experience, and it can be booked exclusively for bigger groups wanting the ultimate wilderness stay. Styled by the same brains as the world-famous Jack’s Camp in the Kalahari, Duke’s East embraces the spirit of 1940s safaris. In-keeping with its vintage decor, the camp also doesn’t have WiFi, so guests can fully immerse themselves in the experience.

All rooms are set on a raised wooden platform and are complete with indoor and outdoor showers, a private viewing deck over a lagoon with chairs, and a grand four-poster bed. The family unit also has its own private swimming pool, with kids allowed from six years and up.

The main area - enclosed by draping canvas and dotted with antique furniture and persian rugs - includes a swimming pool, ample space to relax, and an al fresco or indoor long dining table for big three-course communal dinners.

Activities include game drives, fishing, mokoro trips, night drives and for those who stay for an extended time, fly camping. Here, guests can enjoy camping out under the stars on a beautiful palm island, making for an unbeatable Okavango Delta experience. Back at camp, there is a spa menu, where massages can be booked for those lazy afternoons between safari adventures.

The wildlife in the area is brilliant, with a huge range of ecosystems - from plains to mopane forests and lagoons - attracting an array of predators and aquatic life. Boating activities are dependent on the water levels, so check when enquiring whether your time of year will allow these Delta experiences.
