Little Sable is a sleek, intimate and great value camp in the Okavango Delta. It’s expertly finished with a lovely atmosphere, but with no added fuss to what is a spoiling authentic safari experience in the wilderness.

Little Sable - The Facts

Set in Khwai concession, with Moremi Game Reserve to the south and Chobe National Park to the east, the wildlife here is brilliant - even if, as with many private reserves in the Okavango Delta, it used to be a hunting area until fairly recently.

Little Sable began life as a tiny photographic camp called Pangolin Camp, before it became Jackal & Hide, and then it turned into the smaller sister camp to Sable Alley, as it is now. But throughout the years Little Sable hasn’t lost its intimacy, with just eight rooms set out around an inviting main area.

With prices starting from $630 in low season, Little Sable is also fairly good value for money by Okavango Delta standards. Just because there aren’t glitzy modcons, it doesn’t mean Little Sable lacks luxury: on the contrary, to be in such an intimate, safari-obsessed camp is a luxury in itself.

Fitted with a swimming pool and viewing deck, the camp is attractive with the light, airy rooms raised on wooden slabs with views out into the wilderness. The main area is open-sided, with a firepit out front for those all-important campfire congregations. While the atmosphere is relaxed, the camp itself is beautifully designed to fit into its surroundings with earthy tones and a modern architectural edge.

Outside of camp, guests can enjoy game drives, mokoro rides or boat trips through this winding 200,000 hectares of private reserve, made up of vast floodplains, grassland and forests, all cut up by lilly-padded waterways and channels.

Expect all the classic Okavango Delta sights here including red lechwe, hippos and crocs galore, as well as prowling big cats.
