Best Luxury Safari Lodges
With plenty of options to choose from, selecting your safari accommodation isn't easy. Different lodges can offer different experiences depending on what you are after from your holiday. Some lodges will only have small guest occupancy and offer intimate experiences, whereas other camps will cater for larger groups.
Camps can also be mobile meaning that they are not permanent structures and they will relocate depending on the season and where the animals are most likely to be. Due to the accommodation manoeuvring regularly, these camps are normally made up from a number of luxury tents. These tents however, dispel all traditional myths of what may come to mind if you think of camping. Their furnishings are luxurious and all your needs will be met. Their placement is also extra-close to the action and will certainly make you feel more at one with nature. If you have the opportunity to stay in these mobile camps, do it.

Just like the safari camps, there are many varying options when it comes to accommodation by the beach. Generally the more you pay, the more intimate and luxurious your accommodation will be, however we have options that can cater for all budgets. The beach hotels we offer can either be the base for a perfect romantic getaway or for an ideal adventure and activity filled holiday.

It is very hard to rank Africa lodges with one simple measure! Our ranking is subjective and tries to reflect value for money as well as overall quality. Therefore we may award just three stars to certain 'five star' lodges in the hotel, or five stars to some superb, unashamed 'three star' hotels that are great value for money.

Ibo Island Lodge - Quirimbas Archipelago
Our View
Ibo Island Lodge is a lovely unique property in Mozambique’s Quirimbas Archipelago. Set in the midst of the old town of Ibo, an ancient trading centre for the region, the lodge looks directly out over the bay and has the best location in town. The accommodation is of a high standard and for clients wanting to explore the town and history of the area then this is a great little lodge. However, we believe Ibo does not give clients access to the areas best beaches and for that reason we tend to recommend clients only stay here for a couple of days to explore the town, but then leave to relax at other lodges where beaches are substantially better.

Ikuka - Ruaha
5 stars for the food, service and amazing view. Pool was also great for the hot afternoons. I was a bit disappointed at first at the lack of wildlife around compared to the Selous, but I really wanted to see elephants and there certainly were a lot of them! After a while I did appreciate the beauty of the area especially around sunset, the sunrises and sunsets were amazing. The only hiccup was our first guide was not very good at all, his English was poor and I thought his driving and attitude was rather reckless and he did not communicate very well with us about where he was driving us to (he was trying to find the big cats , he did find us a leopard eventually)- s dyett

Il Moran Camp - Masai Mara Reserve
Our View
Il Moran is the smartest of the Governors’ Collection and, for the money, offers a superb safari experience for very good value. The rooms themselves are vast and all feature incredible views onto the Mara River. Stunning wooden beds and bronze baths typify the feel of the camp in general. Again, set in a superb location, the camp is very real, and a much cheaper alternative to the nearby Bateleur Camp. If you want to safari in style, then this is a great choice.

Ila Safari Lodge - Kafue
Our View
Opened in March 2024, Ila Safari Lodge is Zambia’s most inspiring new offering. Set in the wonderful Kafue National Park, this new luxury option will be a welcome addition for seasoned safari-goers looking for a mind-blowing experience in one of Africa’s remotest parks.

Our View
Ilala Lodge is everything you need for a Victoria Falls hotel stay. Location is key, and from here all the attractions are on your doorstep. The rooms are well appointed and spacious, and you can hear the thunder of the falls and see the iconic billowing mist from its doors.
