Magical Moonbows In Zambia

23rd August 2011

Those heading off on a dreamy Africa honeymoon to Zambia this September should go to the magnificent Victoria Falls to watch a late-night moonbow form.  This unique event is visible the day before, the day of and the day after a full moon.  And a good time to see this rare and natural phenomenon is between May and September. It’s not to be missed!

Located on the Zambezi River, the Victoria Falls are one of the only places in the world to catch a lunar rainbow, which is formed as light from a full moon is refracted through rain or a spray cloud.  The next full moon is 11, 12 and 13 September. Ideal to combine with an exciting African safari in Zambia or safari hotspot, Botswana, why not spend a few nights relaxing on the banks near the falls at the luxurious The Royal Livingstone Hotel or the charming River Club?
